Happy Thoughts!

The main purpose of this blog was to make myself and others happy, so that's what I'm going to do! I want to make every day a happy day, so here are a few of my happy thoughts that I'll post every so often that I hope will make you happy!

Never forget that everything happens for a reason. Whatever you're going through will pass. Don't think for a second that this one thing will destroy your life, because it won't. It won't unless you allow it.

If you want to move past something, want to be happy, it doesn't come naturally. You need to choose a happy life. You need to choose to change your perspective because the way you live your life is up to you.

No one's life is easy. Everyone has struggles, but whether you hide them or deal with them is up to you. Whether you take out that emotion on something or find a way to ease that pain is up to you.

What I know is you have to be strong. Strength is not measured by how many weights you can lift, it's how many struggles you can get through. The strongest people are the ones that can get through their hard times and move on to becoming happier & healthier than they ever have been.

I know this post is kind of random, but I deeply care about mental health and how to get through it! Even if you're as happy as can be, this can serve as a reminder! There's so much more I want to say about this topic, so let me know if you want to read more like this again!

What's On My Phone!

I use my phone way too much, but just what do I use it for for hours on end? Today I decided I'd show you some of my favorite apps that I always use!
  • Netflix, of course! For when I'm too lazy to get up and get my laptop, the app is super useful.
  • Bloglovin! I use the app for when I'm out and about and want to be easily notified of new followers, posts, etc!
  • YouTube! Again, a very frequently used one. Let me know if you want to see who some of my favorite YouTubers are!
  • The Homework App! (Yes, that's its actual name) This is great for any students that need to easily track what's due when and prioritize assignments!
  • Headspace! A great app for when you need to relax. It really helps me to calm down, destress, or just improve my well-being. One complaint: a lot of the features are locked once you pass the first ten sessions, the only way to unlock them is through a paid subscription. But other than that, it's a pretty great app to have!
  • Sleep Cycle! For all of us who hate mornings and always have trouble getting out of bed. You set an alarm for a certain 20-30 minute period, and it wakes you up during your lightest sleep in the duration you set! This really helps me to get up in the morning!
  • Sunshine! Sunshine is a fairly new weather app that helps you to know how cold it will be! I know I struggle sometimes with knowing what to wear when it's 65F, but with Sunshine you can know if that means hot or cold! (And if you're usually cold like me, you can adjust your preferences to your reactions to the temperature).
  • Spotify! Most people use this, but if you don't I highly recommend it! It has such a wide variety of free music that you can listen to! I use it all the time.
  • Bitmoji! Again, most people use this. I love sending these little pictures to my friends! You can create an avatar and send little messages through a text!
  • Instagram! I won't be revealing my personal account, but if you'd like me to create one for my followers on here please let me know because I would love to!!
  • Snapchat! Again, won't be revealing my Snapchat on here as well! But I use Snapchat all the time with my friends!
I have an iPhone 6, so depending on your device, some of these apps might not be available or work as well. I highly recommend all of these apps and find them very useful and/or entertaining!

How I Stay Positive!

Happiness is very important to me. I wouldn't call myself an optimist, but I definitely do my very best to stay positive! I think everyone should be able to be happy for the majority of their life, so here are some of the ways that I stay happy!
  1. Surround yourself with people/things that make you happy. Don't hang out with people that are constantly putting you down or spend time around things that spark bad memories. Do what you love, be with who you love, surround yourself with what you love!
  2. Be productive! For some, this might just be what you do everyday. But for a lazy person like me, being productive is a huge change in my daily life. Instead of sitting around wasting my life away, I can do something to benefit myself or others!
  3. Be confident. Confidence is important to staying happy! Don't ever think of yourself as worthless or unimportant because everyone has worth and everyone is important!
  4. Love yourself. Instead of ridiculing yourself, tell yourself what you love. Admire yourself. Know that everyone is beautiful, and being able to know that you are is a powerful thing.
  5. Destress. Stress can cause serious problems, which I have had much experience with. I don't handle stress well, so when I get stressed, it can be a big issue. Destressing can make you so much happier! I usually do this by doing what I love, taking some breaks from work, or meditation with the app Headspace! It really helps to calm me down.
  6. Have some time to yourself. What you do during this time is entirely up to you, but just taking some time alone to relax and do what you enjoy can change your mood around!
  7. Take care of yourself! Always put your happiness before anything else. Don't do anything that makes you unhappy! Mental health is just as important as physical health, so don't treat your unhappiness any less than you would a broken leg.
There are so many more ways to stay happy, these are only a few! But I really hope they helped and can make you a happier person! If you want more tips on how to stay positive, let me know!

What Music I Love!!

Ok, so I have an odd taste in music, according to people who have heard what's on my playlist. I personally don't think it's too weird, but then again I'm a very weird person so it would make sense. However, since music is such a big part of my life, I thought it fitting to share what I've been listening to (even though I actually have zero followers). So here it is!

  1. Christmas music, of course. Honestly, what was I expecting to be at the top of my list? I listen to Christmas music year-round, whenever I just want to be happy! I know it's weird, but I don't really care because it never fails to cheer me up. :)
  2. Bahari. Bahari is my absolute favorite band! I fell in love with their music two years ago and honestly I'm obsessed. Why? Their voices are angelic, they're the most gorgeous people on Earth, and they're super sweet! They've replied to my messages multiple times and are so nice. I highly suggest you check out their music because they're incredible.
  3. Haley Reinhart. If you've never heard perfection, it's because you haven't listened to this woman sing. She is amazing!! She recently came out with an album and I listened to it a million times because I couldn't get enough. Be sure to check out her songs!
  4. Robyn Sherwell. Again, an incredible singer. Her songs are on the slow side, so if you need to calm down she's definitely the artist to go to.
  5. That Poppy. Her songs are so upbeat and fun, definitely perfect for when you want to dance around like an idiot. She makes YouTube videos and they're very... questionable. There are actually conspiracies about her and how weird her videos are. But despite that, her music is incredible and never fails to cheer me up!
I touched on most of my favorite artists to listen to, but there are and will be so many more! If you want to stay updated on what I'm listening to, follow me on Spotify: allyg3333. I try my best to make monthly playlists!

How to Be More Productive!

Procrastination is a problem for most people (including myself). Even when we know we're procrastinating and we tell ourselves we're going to get our work done, we continue to put it off. So, as a fellow procrastinator, I decided to share some of my methods to put an end to my lingering.
  1. Stress yourself out. I know it sounds crazy to purposely put stress on yourself, but it can actually be helpful when you want to get things done. I usually stress myself out when I exaggerate how little time I have, how much work there is, or how difficult it will be. These might be different for different people because we don't all react the same way. After stressed, you're pressured to get the work done. Voila, you're being productive!
  2. Get motivated or inspired. For me, this usually means going on Pinterest and looking at how productive other people are, which inspires me to be productive too! Once I see how other people actually do stuff with their life unlike me, I get motivated to do something with mine.
  3. Set restrictions for yourself. If this means deleting Instagram off of your phone, so be it. Tell yourself that you can't distract yourself in whatever way until the work is done. You're then motivated to do the work because once you're done, you can go back to doing whatever was so interesting that it distracted you from an important task.
  4. Set a goal. Tell yourself that once you're finished with the work, you've earned the right to binge-watch Grey's Anatomy and eat pizza for hours. Whatever you look forward to, tell yourself that you can't do it until the work is done. It motivates you to finish your work quickly so you can get to the fun stuff!
Obviously, everyone is different. Some of these methods might not work for you, and that's ok! Not all of them will. But the important thing to remember is to always put in your very best effort into everything you do!
